Been a while
03.10.05 (11:25 am) [edit]
Been a long time since I updated this. I have just been so very busy. We have the little one which takes up a TON of time. Then had all sorts of stuff from taxes to truck issues to deal with. I did end up getting a new truck, but not the RAM 1500 I was looking at, but a Chevy Silverado instead. There is a chevy dealer near here who is just unbeatable with his deals. Also been busy making plans for Star Wars Celebration III as well as putting together all the events our Star Wars group will be doing at the local cinema for the midnight release of ROTS. So in what little free time I might have, I have stuff to do around the house, my ever growing list of things to watch on Tivo, and the games KOTOR 2 and SWG to play. *whew*

Updated Updates!!
02.03.05 (10:33 am) [edit]
Well first I'll update our baby situation. She is now into the 9th month, and so sometime around the end of next week I should be on standbye alert status. I'm very excited! We now have everything we are going to need for the new one, including a new Digital camcorder so we can record videos and save them to tape or even make DVDs or VCDs out of them :)
Now for the other news that Im both excited about and Im also depressed about. I am getting a new truck. Yep, thats right. The old Dodge Dakota has been paid off for just a little while now, and here I go leaping into another 4 yr loan. 4 years isnt bad, and the interest rate is very hard to beat, 0% for the entire loan. The depressing part? Well I kinda hate to get rid of the old truck, shes been really good, but shes starting to need repairs, and it's out of warrenty, and I have a truck payment again. But the good part? A new truck, bigger truck, with plenty of room for a family and a 7yr warrenty. Thats the part thats hard to beat. Anyway, here is a pic of the new truck that I should be picking up this weekend.

UPDATE. So far Ive taken Liz to the hospital for her first non-stress test. I personally believe that the baby can come at anytime, so I'm on full alert. My sister-in-law believes so strongly that Liz is going to deliver very soon that she has driven all the way down here from NY, and got here this evening. As far as the new truck goes, I had to call the dealer and put the deal on hold for now. Getting a new truck isnt all that important with all the rest of this going on!!

It's cold out
01.24.05 (9:39 am) [edit]
|
I'm happy that we didn't get all the snow they said we were going to get. But we got just enough to give me an excuse to put the blade on the 4-wheeler and go play :) It's still really cold out, but I'll take the cold over snow or ice anyday.
EA's Sim Racing demo is out now. I'm very impressed. My biggest complaint is that you can dirt track the car thru the corners too much, but overall I think that as long as the multiplayer has all the options and performance that we are looking for, it's going to produce some really great online racing. The rest of the little annoying "arcade" kind of things are fixed or removed easily with a few tweaks. I'm looking forward to the full version.
Speedweeks at Daytona comming up soon! I can't wait :) Feb. is going to be such a busy month for me!

It's Cold Outside
01.18.05 (7:53 am) [edit]
It was -1 outside this morning when I went to go start my truck. Thats a tad bit cold :) But the weather is only suppose to get worse this week. Yay. What really ticks me off is because yesterday was a school holiday, the state road did nothing to the roads really, and thus probably lost their best chance and melting the ice and getting the roads dry before we get the rest of the weather.
But I can't complain. This area rocks! Yes, that's right, I love this area/state. We do not have to worry about earthquakes, hurricanes, etc. etc. The most we have to worry about is some snow in winter and high water at times. Those seem like nothing when you look at the dangers other's face in some areas of the world.
Cup testing is underway at Daytona last week and this week. Getting closer to the 500, and the start of the 05 season :)

Raining spyware
01.11.05 (6:04 am) [edit]
Raining still.
Dont get me wrong, I'd rather have rain then snow, but I would still take a nice clear sunny day over either of them. And you can pretty much count on the fact it will rain every Tuesday. Why? Because Tuesday is our trash day, and it's almost a sure bet that I'm to get totally soaked putting the rest of the trash in the cans, cans in the truck, then cans out of the truck to the spot for pickup. Today is classic, because it's a really cold rain. Nothing I like better than being soaked before going to work. Oh, and since it likes to rain alot, ground is very "mushy" and muddy. The gravel in the driveway is sinking out of sight. All that makes for a fun time of trying to keep me and my shoes in somewhat clean order for work while taking out the trash too.
The baby is now very defined when I feel her in the belly. She moves around, and I'm sure shes getting very cramped in there....only so much space ya know. She seems to move and respond to my voice which is totally cool. Well atleast it would appear the she responds to me, so if it is just a lucky random occurance, I'm happy with the illusion that she knows me. In just a bit over a month I'll get to meet her.
The other day, my mom calls me at work, and she is totally flipping out. She has porn all over her PC. Links to porn sites all over her desktop, IE bookmarks, Start bar, etc. Classic spyware attack. I try my best to explain to her what has happened to her PC, and when I talk to Liz later, she agrees to go to mom's and run some spyware removal software that I have shown her how to use. That takes care of most of it, and after work I go up to manually get rid of the rest of it. By that time my mother's mood has greatly improved and we make many bad jokes about my mom's porn collections.

Report: All clear and smooth sailing.
01.05.05 (4:00 am) [edit]
|
Not much new to report. Life rolls on. For me it's not been that exciting, just waiting for Feb. and the baby (and racing starts again in Feb. too :) ) I go to work, I come home. Thats about it! Got some stuff going on in my online racing and gamming, so I'm happy, entertained, and all is well. Just nothing good or exciting for a Blog. Its been raining like crazy here. Everyone at work is grumbling about it. I don't mind it because Im alot more happy with rain than snow. Snow bad. Snow in Feburary very bad! But I agree that the rain could let up a bit, because the streams are starting to get a little high.

Holiday fun
12.30.04 (6:50 am) [edit]
Standard post-Christmas information.
What did I get for Christmas? The usual adult stuff, nothing like fun toys, just tools, clothes, but I did get a real nice leather office chair. Infact the unborn child got more than me and Liz, which I expected. All stuff we are going to need.
Did I have a good Christmas? Sure, spent it with family, and everyone was in good spirits and healthy. Well except my father-in-law. His back is really screwed up, and he was having to take pain pills to just walk. He is on leave from work, and that kills him because he dosent like to just sit home while other people are out there having to do his work too. I guess it's a sliped disk, and they are working on it, hes getting better and looks like he will not need to go under the knife for it, which is really good.
The magical part of Christmas will be back, as I watch my child grow and enjoy getting up early and rip into their presents. I'm looking forward to that.

Holiday driving tips, for the other people
12.10.04 (6:25 am) [edit]
Well we finally have some furniture downstairs in the new den. Liz is happy. We start Christmas shopping this weekend. Hate the shopping. Really hate that this year we are just starting this now! We usually have our holiday shopping all done way before now, but with the basement taking money and time as well as everything else, we are just now getting around to it.
The part I hate about shopping this time of year the most? Traffic and checkout lines. My problem with checkout lines is simple, it sucks to stand in line. But the traffic is just horrid. I swear nobody besides me and maybe 5% of the people in this state can actually drive! Everyone is a moron, and does stuff that almost gets themselves and everyone around them killed, it ticks me off. If I could just be picked up at my house by a helicopter and then fly to the store/mall and then travel back home the same way, I wouldnt mind it a bit. All this really pushes your ability to maintain any level of Holiday spirit. And so I've decided to write a list that none of them will read, to help with the situation.
* It's amazing how many old and new cars must have never came with turn signals. USE THEM! * 40 MPH on the interstate, not safe! * Trying to merge onto the interstate at 40 MPH, not safe! * If Im on the Interstate doing 75 MPH, and you want to do 100, you will not push me up to that speed, stop trying, or we are going to be going slower. * If you are unable to maintain speed and stay in your lane ever, please don't add a cell phone to the mix. * IF you are waiting to pull out onto the road, and I'm on that road comming at you, and you turn a look right at me and decide to pull out right infront of me so I have to test my anti-lock brakes, I will try my best not to hit you, cause if I do I'm going to beat your ass so bad they will need dental records to id you. * If you are over the age of 60, or you still refer to a VCR as "new-fangled thingy", stay home and don't drive. * My front and back bumpers are for sell for the right price, please do not try to simply take them with your car. * If you wanted to ride in our back seat, all you have to do is ask. Because if I look back and your trying to climb in there while still in your car, you just might be buying me a new one. * Don't go 40 up a hill and 100 down the hill on the interstate when I'm trying to pass you. * If you cannot dial a cell phone or talk on one while driving, stop trying, I'd like to live another day. * Put on your makeup BEFORE you leave the house! I am not going to sit through another light cycle while you try to upgrade yourself from Damn Ugly to just Ugly. * When on a two lane road, and you have decided that you just simply cannot drive any faster than 30MPH under the speed limit, do not the nail the gas on the only straight where some of the now 150 cars that are stuck behind you can pass. * If you sometimes forget which pedal is the gas and which one is the brake, stay home. * Why do you drive around with your high-beams on in the middle of the day? * If you have tried to stuff too much crap in your trunk and had to tie it shut, anything that falls out and hits me I keep, and you get to buy me new parts too!

My foot hurts
12.02.04 (4:04 am) [edit]
Little over a week ago, my parents had a water leak in the house they are trying to sell. No biggie, they shut off the water, fixed the leak and set to work on getting things dried out. Well....the floor got messed up in a few places, and that has to be fixed. We are related to someone who does carpet, so he came and took the carpet up and will be able to lay it all back down (old and new). But who to fix the floor? Well that would be me. Not a very hard job, just takes time to do. So thats what I have been doing after work this week. Got it all done yesterday. Got home and opened the door to take to tools out of my truck and my 18v cordless drill came flying out, bounced off my foot and went sliding thru the mud. So now it's dirty and my foot hurts.
Oh and during all this still had time to go with Liz to buy the new crib (which I still need to assemble), and all the stuff it needs, and a new carseat/stroller combo thingy.
And either my sinuses are going nuts or I'm catching a cold.
Oh and I have to drive to PA this weekend to attend a wedding.
Ya know, at some point, in all my free time here, I should maybe atleast get a christmas tree up in the house! We have no decorations at all up yet. No time.

Thanksgiving, etc.
11.29.04 (4:54 am) [edit]
Thanksgiving. Lots of food to eat, and if your married like me, you might have to eat that much twice. Well the meal at my parents house was really good and very filling. Then Friday we drive to my inlaws. Now what Liz didn't know was her sister and her two girls (8 and 9 yrs old) were driving down from New York. Well she was very surprised when they showed up! We had a huge meal there too. Then Sat. they had a baby shower for Liz, which was a surprise to her as well :) I did good keeping all this a secret for so long :) One evening the girls wanted to feel the baby move, and the baby just happened to work with us and move for each, and the look on their faces was classic.
So thanksgiving was very good.
The guild that I play a few games with is now split up. It would appear that a few of them really thought they were better than everyone else, so they are now going about their own business, away from us. Back in the day, before I had a life (marriage, child on the way, etc.) and I would powergame, I could have taken these losers to school on how to power level, but I feel no need now. Let them think what they want, don't care. They are gone now, weeee :)
Kurt Bush want the Nascar Cup title. Bleh. There is always next year.
Everything going pretty good, walk in the door today and they are having cooling problems on our floor of the building. So here in our server room its just shy of 90. Now the servers suck that air in and spit out air at a temp of around 100 - 120. Now that will heat up the room more, thus is a nasty endless cycle. But they say they have the problem fixed, and that cool air is comming right now. It better be because I'm getting temp warnings from the servers, and did I mention I sit in the same room as them! I feel like a thanksgiving turkey right now :)

Basement is done
11.22.04 (9:39 am) [edit]
Well, Liz's baby shower went really well. She had a good time. Got a TON of stuff. A new baby requires a TON of accessories :)
My free time has been all taken up, as I mentions in my very first blog post I had to work on the basement, to get it finished, so I could move my computer, etc. down there and prepare that bedroom upstairs for the new baby. Well it's been a ton of work and hours to turn this:

Into this:

But it's all pretty much done now except for the small stuff. And I'll get to that stuff at some point. But for now I'm going to move on with the baby's room. Work at home should now go at a slower pace, WooHoo! I'm so happy to finally have this big project done and over with!

Star Wars (SWG), Revenge of EverQuest.
11.12.04 (5:06 am) [edit]
Working on the basement. No surprise there. Im as tired of doing it as you are of reading it in every blog entry. But I have to get everything pretty much done by this comming Thursday. That's when the carpet gets done. At that point it should pretty much be done excepts for small stuff......thank goodness!
Well, EverQuest2 is fun. It's pretty. Very quest driven and it uses instanced zones, and all that is very good. Also the voice for all the NPCs is pretty cool too. Other than that stuff, it's just another MMO. My guild seems to be in love with it currently.
Oh and concerning my guild and my last post, it seems there are still a few people who will be playing SWG, and I find that to be very good. However I think only Jounville and myself have logged into SWG since the release of EQ2, but EQ2 is shiny and new. Once that wears off a little I think the other will come back over to SWG a bit. In my book the guild has already fractured, some will be dedicated to EQ2, others to WOW, and still some to SWG, with a few of us playing a couple of them. I still plan on splitting my time between the two. Just last night I made another box in my pilot skill tree in SWG then went over and got level 8 in EQ2. Amazing when you consider how crazy my play schedule is right now with all the work going on at the house.
Liz and baby are doing just fine still. She went in this week for some other kind of blood test, and all was good. Her baby shower is going to happen this Sat. at my parents house, so our house will be the "man shelter" for any poor husbands that get drug along. Hmmmm...maybe I could hand out tools at the door and get alot of work done! Ok, even I'm not that mean :)

Parties, work, and SWG guild woes
11.05.04 (9:55 am) [edit]
Wow, ok, been awhile since I updated this.
Been busy.
Had the FanForce's Haloween party at my house. Was a blast! I used the party as my last time to really drink, because with the baby comming I'm probably going to rarely drink anymore.
Basement is soooo close to being done now. Painting is done and most of the trim is stained, so it will all be up this week. I will be getting started on the drop celing this week as well. Carpet is scheduled to be installed middle of this month, then thats it! It will all be done (Finally!)
SO Jump to Lightspeed finally came out for Star Wars Galaxies. I got it. It's really a ton of fun to play, but I hope the devs start developing some kind of content for the game really soon! With everything going on in my life I just kinda took a break from SWG while I was busy doing other things, and logged in only like once a week. Well it seems that has really broken some of my ties with my guild in game. There is still folks in the guild that I get along great with, Ive just noticed the change. To be honest, the guild is so big now, I fear someday it might start to crumble. And thus this leads right into big questions for me about EQ2. When EQ2 is released, I'll have a copy because I pre-ordered it. Now I'm thinking that I might not install it, or play on another server than my guild, for a few reasons. First, when the baby gets here, my play time will be cut down a bit. Second, no matter how much they have changed, it will still be the same ole EQ level grind, which means if you cant play as much as your friends, you have to work your ass off to catch up to them or else you can't really play with them anymore. With a baby, this will be hard. Third, I think that if they add content to SWG, I'd have more fun there because my char there is already all leveled up, so I can just go and have fun without the grind. Sadly, with almost all of my guild leaving SWG for EQ2, and my playtime in EQ2 being possibly limited, and the apparent direction of my guild, I don't know if I will remain with them. If they are just simply not playing SWG, I will have to make all new friends. Thats the part the really hurts, because I have build so many good relationships within the guild, and I don't want to let them go. Ofcourse the fact my job got busy and I couldn't be as active on the message boards didn't help matters much either. Perfect example, during October they all posted threads to poke fun at different people. The thread to make fun of me had the lowest number of posts and I had to make fun of myself. I don't think they really mean to do any of this, I just think that the group has gotten so damn big, you can be easily lost in the shuffle, and it's damn hard to be noticed again. I thought the fact that I was a long time member, back when the guild was like 8 people big, would have helped a little, but that dosent seem to mean shit. I think if some of the guys like "Cheese" could look at this guild now, he would run off and start another one. I still read alot of their blogs, wonder if they ever read mine....

I'm still breaking even in the office football pool. I need to sneak out a few more great weeks!
Go Boston! Ok, so I'm not really a huge Sox fan, but I can't help but want them to pull this one out!
Wow, Jr had a bad race yesterday :( It's pretty bad when the car spits the rear gear right out on to the track. And Rusty was a complete idiot again, no surprise there. After this race, Jr. drops to third in the points. This was your bad race Jr, you can't have another one! But I think that the whole race was overshadowed by the sad news they gave at the end instead of a victory lane celebration. "On Sunday, a Hendrick Motorsports twin-engine Beech 200 King Air plane carrying 10 people, including four members of team owner Rick Hendrick's immediate family, crashed into a mountain, killing everyone on board."
Sad :(
I beat the video game "Leisure Suit Larry, Magna Cum Laude" this weekend. That game is funny as hell! Umm...dont play it around the kiddies. It dosent have an M rating for nothing. The like to drop the F-bomb alot and show lots of naked cartoon chick bootie.
Here is a funny cartoon. My online racing buds will get this one :)

Little updates
10.22.04 (10:05 am) [edit]
Basement update. I'm still working on it :)
Baby update. It's still kicking! :)
New book out I have been waiting for! "The Two Swords" by R A Salvatore. Going to get it this weekend. Reading is good :) Then need to get back to reading the rest of the "New Jedi Order"
Nascar races Martinsville this weekend. Short track racing! We raced that track in my league last night, I finished 8th out of 21 cars, not too bad.
Wanting to have a Halloween party this month at my house, but as of right now, attendance looks to be really low, so might just pick a bar that's doing a Halloween thing to go to instead. Have to just wait and see.

Ultrasounds and breaking windows
10.15.04 (1:43 pm) [edit]
Wow, been awhile since my last update.
Well, we went to do the ultrasound thing last Friday. Those things are cool! Got the first look at our new little one. Everything seems healthy and going good, but as with everything these days, we still have to wait and see the doctor before we can actually be told everything (stupid system.) And yes, found out it's going to be a baby girl.
Basement project continues to roll on at a snails pace, and yet consumes a ton of my free time. Hope to be able to start painting the walls end of next week. This week found yet another setback. While cutting the wood to frame in the last window, my father-in-law went to push a piece of wood that was just cut by the tablesaw away from the blade, and it instead spun into the blade, blade kicks it airborne, and it breaks one of my basement windows into pieces. So now I have the window at the glass shop, who won't have the glass until Tuesday and there goes another $50 - $75 out of the budget.
To fill what little free time I do have, I decided to go ahead and pick up Star Wars Battlefront. Fun little game. Graphics and sounds are dead on. Really makes you feel like your in the battles from the films. Down sides? Well, it kicks me to desktop every once in a while, and it's not really good for teamplay using a voice server because for every map you are randomly assigned to a team, and it would make staying on the same team as all your buds really hard. But its fun to just jump in for an hour or so and shoot some people.

Shit
10.05.04 (11:48 am) [edit]
Ok, so this weekend we worked on running all the wires and hooking up all the outlets and swtiches. Put in a new subpannel breaker box, new breakers. Man, thats all easy to list, but took a long time to do. I have a ton of outlets in the basement now though :)
So I had Sunday kinda off to do what I wanted. Got to watch the Talladega race. Wow, did Jr. make some freaking awsome moves on that last restart to go from 10th to 1st and win! Thats 5 wins at Tally! And, he took over the points lead! But, he said "shit" in his interview in victory lane. Now we all know that NASCAR fans never use such awful language!! WTF? Well we also know that both NASCAR and the FCC have sticks jammed up their asses. So the result is what happened today.
"Dale Earnhardt Jr. fined 25 driver points. Earnhardt Jr., who used a four-letter expletive in his victory lane interview on NBC's broadcast, was also fined $10,000 and his team lost 25 points in the car owner standings."
So now Jr goes from being 13 points ahead of Kurt Busch, to being 12 points behind. What did he say that was so fucking awful?? While he was pumped and excited about his win, the reporter just kept jabbing the mic in his face asking questions, and this is how you loose 25 points and ten grand
"Earnhardt Jr. was asked what it meant to him to have won for the fifth time at Talladega. "It don't mean (expletive) right now," Earnhardt Jr. said. "Daddy won here 10 times." "
Ofcourse, expletive = "shit"
Personally I blame Janet Jackson's SuperBowl boob for this whole deal
"NASCAR first began deducting points for the use of bad language earlier this year after the Federal Communications Commission began a crackdown on enforcing standards on broadcasters in the wake of an incident at halftime of the Super Bowl in which entertainer Janet Jackson's breast was exposed."
What info comes to us from DEI? "We have no choice but to appeal the points portion of the penalty." Gilmore stated." Thats right, appeal and be slapped down by Helton's big NASCAR Boss stick.
Hmmm......how to end this entry on a good note.........
I felt the baby move finally :)

Weekend of the Trilogy of the cows
09.27.04 (3:34 am) [edit]
Well had the FanForce over Sat. to watch the trilogy on DVD. I think everyone had a good time. I know that I still think that Han shoots first, not second, not at the same time, but that Greedo never gets a shot off. But hey, thats me. So we watched the movies, talked about our trip to Celebration III some, and had some snacks.
So Sunday I'm watching the race and talking to a friend on the phone when I see a cow walk by the window. I guess a guy down the road had a fence down or something, but the cows were out. So off I go on my 4-wheeler to get them out of my yard. Sometimes living outside the city limits can be...ummm....fun......
Well today at work I get to be the bad guy and have a quick sit down or meeting with some of our guys about making sure there is coverage before they take time off work. I hate being the bad guy but at the same time this stuff needs to be said, so I get the pleasure of saying it.

Some games are like a drug
09.23.04 (5:30 am) [edit]
Ok, so I had said over and over and over that after the addiction I had with this one little game long ago called The Sims, that once I finally quit playing it I would not play it again. And so The Sims 2 has been released. I did not run out and buy it. Nope I stayed far away. Well, I came into work on Monday, and someone here did buy it. They had it here on their laptop. After hearing all the sounds of the sims I finally decided that I would take a quick peek at it. I then showed them a tip or two I knew from playing the original. Then I discussed how impressed I was with the new graphics, AI, objects, etc. So there I had a sneek peek at the new game and it seemed really good. Did I own it though? Nope. I was able to stick to my guns. So later that same day I leave to go to the gym, and it just so happens that before I got there, I found my self at the store, in the checkout line, with a copy of Sims 2 in my hands. Doh! Well, it's for the wife, yeah, she loved the original game too, and so I bought her a copy. Thats it. By the time I got home I muttered something to her about "buy your own copy" as I was working very hard on the perfect single party dude, then switching to my other family "TrailerTrash".
*Sigh*
That game is like a drug, I swear.....
Star Wars trilogy came out on DVD this week. Awsome! Got it. Watched all the bonus stuff and a few select scenes from the films. Going to have the FanForce over to the house this Sat. to watch them all. Star Wars rules! Also got my Aayla Secura "Unleashed" figure this week, and it is now on my desk at work :) Monday will be a high pressure day, because I will be going like a mad-man trying to get the FanForce hotel rooms for Celebration III.

Well what was left of the most recent hurrican decided to roar thru the state. I had a down tree to cut up and remove. That was no big deal. However Friday night at about 8:30PM we lost power. I have my computers, router, etc. on battery backup but soon I had to shut everything down because it was clear this was going to be a outage for a few hours. WRONG! Try the entire weekend! We got power back around 3 PM on Sunday. We had to move most of the stuff out of the fridge to coolers. The big frezzer kept most things frozen but Sunday morning it was starting to defrost. We didn't looze too much in the way of frozen goods but we did loose some. However living without power sucks. No Tivo/TV. No Computers. Candles and lamps for light at night. Our stove is electric so to eat it was eating out or going to my parents (who have a gas stove, but no power either). I was able to verify this weekend that I am indeed not Amish material.
So there went most of my weekend plans. I had bought THX 1138 and The Punisher on DVD Friday and finally got it all watched. But still, kinda felt like my weekend had been stole from me. I'm in the SWG Jump To Lightspeed Beta and was clicking on the "Play" button for the first time as the power went out. Finally got in on Sunday for a few hours to see how space flight in Galaxies would be. It's OK. I need more playtime to determine better though. Didn't get any work on the basement done either.
